Numerical Investigation of the Vibration of a Circular Cylinder in Oscillatory Flow in Oblique Directions

The response of an elastically mounted circular cylinder vibrating in oscillatory flow oblique to the direction is investigated. Simulations are conducted for vibration angles ranging from 0° 90°, with and 90° corresponding cases where inline perpendicular direction, respectively. One mass ratio 2, one Reynolds number 150, two Keulegan–Carpenter (KC) numbers 5 10 a wide range frequency ratios that cover lock-in regime considered. natural frequency. maximum amplitude highest when vibrates (vibration angle = 0°) gradually decreases increase direction. All identified regimes mapped on versus space. In addition exist stationary cylinder, variants Regime F (F1 F2), new R unstable D/F found. vortex street directions F1 F2 opposite same as vibration, respectively, dominant circles around changes between D frequently. contribution higher harmonics increases angle.
